Crafting the perfect Valentine’s Day luncheon for your loved one.
Planning a Valentine’s Day luncheon can be backbreaking. Where should you even begin? In this blog, you’ll learn how to craft a perfect luncheon that will take your partner’s breath away.
Whether you’re catering to a gaggle of starry-eyed kids or want to surprise your special someone, this is your moment to go over the top with hearts and flowers. After all, it’s Valentine’s Day, and it’s just around the corner!
With so many things to choose from, it can be hard to pin down what exactly you should do this Valentine’s Day that’s truly out of this world. Not to mention, the looming dread of “what if it’s not good enough” is always at the back of your head.
The perfect way to capture your loved one’s heart and make sure all your hard work isn’t for nothing is to host a Valentine’s Day luncheon. Everyone likes luncheons plus, they’re hard to screw up unless you’re romantically clueless (that’s on you). If you have planned a big surprise at the end of your date, a luncheon will be an excellent build-up to that.
First things first, you need to send out a heartfelt invitation. I recommend you check out these awesome Valentine’s Day invitation templates before moving on to the hard work.
Cupcakes are the cutest doses of happiness
Every sweetheart knows the best gifts come in small packages, so why not bake cute little cupcakes for your beloved special someone? If you’re thinking that’s cliched, let’s make this a more out-of-the-box idea then.
Cut out little hearts from colored cardboard, write cute things you want to say to your partner like ‘you make my day’ or ‘thank you for being that special someone,’ and slip them under the base of each cupcake. That will likely make your partner go head over heels for you, even on the off chance they don’t find your cupcakes delicious.
Nonetheless, your cupcakes should taste out of this world, and only you know how your partner likes them. Whenever I host a Valentine’s luncheon, I start with the basic white cake batter and fill up the cupcake liners one-third full. Then, I flavor the remaining batter with raspberry candy oil and use food coloring to color two-thirds of the batter red and one-third pink. After that, I store each color batter in a food storage bag.
Cut a corner off each bag and squeeze about two tablespoons of the red mixture into the center of each batter-filled liner and one tablespoon of the pink mixture into the center of the red. Now, bake those sweet surprises at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. After the cupcakes have cooled, top them with fluffy white frosting and pink and red sprinkles.
Prep a delicious main course with appetizers
Now that your cupcakes have captivated your partner’s heart, you’ll need an even amazeballs appetizer followed by an even tastier main course. I recommend sandwiches for appetizers. They’re a good next step after cupcakes – not too dissimilar to those sweet delights and not too heavy for the main course ahead.
Make sandwiches with soft fillings like cream cheese and jelly or hazelnut spread and bananas. Then, cut out hearts with a big cookie cutter and pile the bites of love on a big platter. Now, set out the heart-shaped sandwiches, pink punch, and a bowl of beautiful strawberries, and let the fun begin.
For the main course, you can surprise your Valentine with seared steaks topped with blue cheese crumbles. At least, that’s my favorite but I’m no Gordon Ramsay, so you might want to check out his amazing steak recipes. If your partner is big on food, consider making a wholesome turkey
The perfect Valentine luncheon is not all about yummy bites but also how well-crafted your decor is. From balloons, ribbons, and hidden love notes inside cupcakes to the background music, dim lights, and a cozy atmosphere, your room overhaul should take your partner’s breath away.
Lights are half the magic; they enhance the romantic ambiance of the room. If you’re up for a little DIY adventure, make cardboard heart lights and set them around the dining table. Make sure the lights and the cardboard hearts are of different vibrant colors. Speaking of colors, what’s a Valentine’s luncheon without a bouquet of beautiful flowers? Consider them the cherry on top!
The background music is the rest of the magic, as long as you have the right playlist on your hands. If you don’t, try to scour a good dinner playlist on Spotify and listen to it beforehand to make sure it fits the theme. The music should not be standout-ish and should gel in the background. More importantly, keep it dim enough that you can hold a conversation.
Wrapping it up
A Valentine’s luncheon can either be perfect or pretty boring and unoriginal. So, you’re walking a fine thread here. Perfecting the nitty-gritty details, including the ones mentioned above, is the surefire way to captivate your loved one’s heart. Keep in mind that if you have something big planned at the end of your date, as in you want to propose to the person you love, a luncheon is a great way to get started.
