The last 3 times I went to the supermarket with a coupon for a free item, the cashier had to call her front end runner who called the manager to approve or deny the coupon. When the free excedrin coupon came out, the manager swore there were no such thing as printable coupons for free items. I tried explaining a couple of times that it wasn’t a printable coupon and that it even had the “scratch the back” safety feature to prove it wasn’t a photocopy but apparently common sense isn’t valid to poorly-trained managers. I signed up for the free cheese coupon but I’m pretty sure I’m going to be made to look like a criminal in front of other shoppers once again. Sad isn’t it?
